Well, I'm quite lactose intolerant, so I don't do creamy or cheesy things well.

But that Cool-whip stuff is just vile.

And a Bristo gravy's allright.

In all fairness to the Brits, at least they don't usually put that revolting "nondairy whipped topping" on the desserts!  My midwestern U.S. relatives seem to think that any sweet is incomplete without it.

Yummmmmmm Cool Whip.....I LOVE it.

Yes, I find British cakes drier than what I'd expect a cake to be, generally.  I still prefer ice cream over cream.

I like cold custard (just by itself) but not a fan of warm custard.  Steve is just the opposite.  I'm not a big fan of the traditional warm & stodgy British desserts though (served with warm custard) - spotted dick, jam roly-poly, etc...  Bleurgh! :P  On occasion, I've liked a sticky toffee pudding or treacle something or other.

I like cream over something like peach cobbler -- mmmmmm!  Cos that's how my grandma used to serve it.  Maybe over a berry pie would be nice too, but I still prefer ice cream I think.

And yeah - you definitely want some gravy with that toad in the hole.  I think that might be what Steve is making us tonight! ;D

I tried spotted dick mostly so I could say I had but I didn't really like it. I much prefer sticky toffee pudding and golden syrup pudding.

Mine, too. I also don't like any steamed puddings. They just feel like lead weight to me.

I don't like Cool Whip... it's so artificial... I can deal with it mixed into stuff though...

I have to add my pet peeve which is the UK Elmea whipped cream product.... you whip it.. it's stiff, it holds up well... but it tastes like eating uncooked Crisco.... ugh...  it's hydrogenated fat and so gross....

It is nasty stuff. And I don't like Cool Whip either. Blech. There's nothing like real cream!

Now you see, I have a dollop of that Elmlea in my coffee every morning. The lighter version. I suppose I'm really not doing myself much good then?
