I'm no fan of Irn Bru.  I find it way too sweet, like it is eating the enamel off my teeth.  It is OK ice, ice cold in a pinch.  They sell Dr Pepper at grocery stores, but you would be looking for Mountain Dew and Grape Fanta at an import store, and it won't be cheap.

To me it's more like liquid cotton candy.  Sweet, but not fruity really.  Maybe someone else can describe it better.

Lots of people love it.  I just can't take it.  Someone else may have a more positive spin on it.  It's worth trying when you get here.

I agree with Kathleen's assessment of Irn Bru. Bleuch. Might taste ok with a deep fried mars bar  ;D

There are other fizzy drinks here you might like, try Lilt (pineapple & grapefruit) or Vimto (grape & blackcurrant).

To me Irn Bru tastes like a combo of liquorice and bubble gum.  I sort of like it though, but it has to be really cold.

Yes (I live in Scotland).  Lilt you can get at any supermarket or pretty much anywhere that sells soft drinks. It is a bit like Fanta but nicer! (goes well with tequilla or vodka too!).  Vimto you most often find in cordial form but some shops sells cans of the fizzy variety.

I will be in Edinburgh

I love Irn Bru! I always describe it to people as tasting like cotton candy flavored Bubbleyum gum.

Reminds me of creme soda.

I don't know if it still the case but Irn Bru actually outsold coke or pepsi in Scotland.

Quite a feat considering the market share of those two.
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.
