Do you notice a difference in taste from the US Starbucks chai?

i've never been to a US Starbucks.

I used to work for Starbucks, so, I know all the little secrets.  Next time you go in, order your chai without water.  This makes it stronger so no need for the double shot (or the extra charge that they sometimes add it for that extra shot).  It is AWESOME this way.  YUM.   This only works for the hot chai, iced comes without the water already.  ;D

thanks for the tip!   ;D

I think the difference is the US starbucks I always went to didn't water the chai down like they do here.

Maybe that's why it doesn't taste as chai-ish as I'm used to.

Thanks for the tip Dar! I'll ask them not to add water!

If I won the Lotto I would have cases of Oregon chai brand in a carton brought over.

my favourite indian restaurant in the states gave me the recipe for their masala tea:

boil two bags' worth of black tea long with a two-inch stick of cinnamon, three cardamom pods, a star anise & a couple black peppercorns. after this mixture comes to the boil, turn it down & add milk to colour. then bring to the boil again.

sugar is up to individual taste.

num!

i've always fancied making my own, cos i'd like to vary the levels of spices, and have it more black peppery!

I posted this quite a while ago, but since everyone's talking about chai I thought I'd re-post.  It's a recipe for rice pudding with chai:

With all this chai talk, I am going to attempt to make some even though my recipe is now packed away.  If I get it right, I'll post it.  This all going to be from memory, but, now I want chai!!

I got the nog, because I thought, egg nog, chai, what's not to love.  Unfortunately, I didn't love it.  Do you guys know you can get instant Oregon Chai Latte packets?  It comes in original and vanilla, and it's much cheaper to ship than the concentrate (also lasts ages).  Get US family to send some!
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.
