Boston to UK Shipping Less than 50 cu ft
« on: August 27, 2007, 01:00:06 AM »
Does anyone know of a company that will ship 50 cu ft or a wee bit less?  I did loads of packing for my move in November and I know that I will have 50 cu ft or less to ship as I am selling all of my furniture and appliances.  I am just moving pots, pans, books, and clothing.  Everything that needs to be shipped is already packed and I have less than 50 cu ft.  I may make 50 if I shop the dogs' collaspable wire crates.  Maybe....

Any help is much appreciated!

For those of you who would have the same amount of stuff to send, UPakWeShip will ship 35 cu ft for $375.   I just asked for a quote up to 50 cu ft, but, I don't think I will use up that much.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. The only thing I'm moving over are books, clothes, personal items, and cds/dvds. I have no idea how much it is exactly atm, but it's all in a space less than 5ft x 5ft, so I can't imagine it being very much. I'm debating on shipping vs. extra luggage. Both ways have the risk of things being lost, but at $100+ per extra piece of luggage, who knows. However, I have a six piece luggage set that I am bringing with me anyway, so I may as well use up the space that I have. It may end up being the same in the end.

The other thing is though, making sure what can/can't go through customs at the airport. That's always a hassle. The only thing I have that truly MUST be shipped (aside from books--I don't want to lug those around and pay overweight luggage fees) is my Sailor Moon collection (I'm a nerd, haha). There are figurines, action figures, and general collection memorabila that would not hold up in luggage and wouldn't even fit if I had a 20 piece set of luggage, haha.

If what you are wanting to ship is in a 5'x5' space, then I think you have over 100 cu ft.

http://www.upakweship.com/packing.htm

On that part of the website, the link called Help With Measuring Your Shipment.

Also, if you take it to their shipping dock and then pick it all up in the UK, the cost is less.

Hope this helps!
