I've been having a huge craving for tamales recently, but I don't think you can get them around here  ???

Anyone ever try to make their own?  Disaster?

I preface by saying I have no idea how to make tamales, but my ex-bf is Mexican and his grandma always would comment that they only made tamales when there were a lot of hands to help. Usually they make them only around holidays because supposedly it's a big job. Perhaps they can be made in smaller batches? I'm  not sure...  ???

I could eat Italian or Mexican every single day.

Only problem is my DH doesn't like pasta or cheese, so whenever I'm in an Italian or Mexican mood, I end up having to cook two separate meals.   ::)

That said, though, he'll eat risotto, so I can do a little Italian for him...I made a nice risi e bisi last night and he thought it was really good.  :)

There's a great recipe in the Lupe Pintos cookbook a dear dear friend gave me.  I'm at work now, but I can copy and PM it to you later tonight when I get home.

I LOVE tamales...used to work for Cuban husband & wife lawyers, and we had a lot of Mexican clients.  One year one of them brought in what seemed like tonnes of tamales - we ate them until we felt sick...it was a good kind of sick, you know?   ;)

Oh, great! Thank you :)

I don't even want to post how many tamales I can eat in one go.  Its embarrassing! :)

Good things come to those who wait...a really long time.
