No quick fix, but eating a banana (maybe with some blueberries) a day for potassium.  I googled and found a how to video, they said to do everything you have done, the only other option is to wrap it with an elastic bandage, but that wouldn't be very fashionable.  Best of luck in finding a solution.  :)

Ouch!! I get them pretty often, but only for short periods of time. A quick rub/massage and they're gone within a minute. That must have been horrible!

I get them on occasion (sometimes in the middle of the night) I try and put my foot completely flat to the ground. Even though it hurts big time, it seems to help.

If you are getting them frequently, say several times per night and they're excessivley painful - it could be a sign of diabetes.  Cramps are the symptoms that a lot of people have in relation to that disease.

I've dealt with foot cramps most my adult life. I find when I wear very flat uncushioned shoes it makes it much worse. I've just learned to deal with it over the years.

don't tell me that.  i'm slightly obsessed with having diabetes.  i know i have blood sugar issues, i am thirsty often, crave sugar, have passed out/fainted from low blood sugar before.  but- i get tested and i'm always fine according to their fasting glucose testing thingy.  (i also have a family history of type II diabetes)

So, here's a weird remedy which works for me (courtesy of DH).

Take your index finger and thumb (one inside the mouth the other on the outside) and pinch down on the little indent that joins your nose to your mouth.

It honestly works (even though you look pretty funny when you do it!)

HA HA HA! NO! Really?? How long do you have to do this? Would a clothes pin work?  ;D

OUCH, the thought of a clothes-pin makes my eyes water  [smiley=bigcry.gif] (although it might help with any future career plans in the circus!)

Honestly though, it does work.  First time he told me about it i thought he was just winding me up and trying to get me to do something stupid, but i did it and it went away within seconds, now i swear by it, even when at work i'm often caught sitting at my desk grabbing my top lip...very professional!

The pinching sounds like a Far Eastern remedy. I've also read that if you have a headache, you should squeeze the section of your hand between your thumb and index finger. I haven't found that to work yet, so I'm pretty quick to use ibuprofen. That always does the trick (it might also help with prolonged cramps, as it's a muscle relaxant).

Sorry about that.  Didn't mean to freak you out. Im 30 and about 5 months ago diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes (who does that actually happen to) and theese terrible foot cramps were part of the symptoms that I had so now I get all weird about foot cramps because mine are literally dibilitating.  I can't walk...terrible for my boyfriend who has to get up five times a night with me screaming in pain to rub my feet.......
