a cake with holes...
« on: September 01, 2007, 08:07:27 AM »
I vaguely remember when i was a kiddie, my mom making a cake which she poked holes into (with a drinking straw, i think) and then poured something into the holes... maybe pudding or jello or something like that.

Anyone know what im on about?  I think i want to try making something like this for DH's birthday next week.

I made this last 4th of July and topped it off with blueberries and whipped topping to make it festive.  It was sooo much better with a homemade white cake, I think.  Let us know how it turns out!

Just seeing the subject line put a smile on my face. Memories from youth- I knew exactly what you meant :-)

Cool. I've never heard of anything like that. My kids would love it!

OMG!!!  That is great.  See that is just the thing I would love as a kid and my mom would never make. (She didn't let us have sugar cereal either!)

My mother never made us anything! If it couldn't be bought from a store or bakery we just didn't have it. Sorry to say I'm a lot like that with my kids  :-\\\\

I love these cakes! Someone would almost always bring one to a family reunion. The icing is cool and light. I hope he likes it!
