Popeye's everything
« on: March 24, 2004, 12:22:47 AM »
How do y'all cope with no Popeye's?  They were in the Boston area for a while but folded a few years ago.  The closest store is in NYC. :(

I spent years of summers in New Orleans with my dad (summer in NOLA=child abuse?), and got hooked on the entire menu.  Their red beans and rice is even better than my SIL's.
I'm stocking up when I go to MYC for the Tartan Day Parade.  Newcastle Brown and popcorn shrimp, OH YEAH!   Chris
When I find a funnier sig than twistedncynical's, it will be here.

I agree about the red beans and rice - I really do miss it.

But there's so much other food here to love, that I'm pleasantly distracted!  ;)

Broxi, What can I say?  I love my Broon!  My Geordie BIL is so proud of me when I order a pint.  And I drink Jamieson's.  I tried (really hard) for years to develop a taste for Scotch, but no go.  The first taste of Irish whiskey was like my first taste of chocolate.  Heaven!

Peedal and Rhia,  I agree that food there is fabulous.  The beef and lamb taste so much better, and the veggies and dairy products are so fresh.  The fish is out of this world.  Geez, you have me craving a fried pizza!   Chris

The first time that I tried Lamb was when I lived in the UK.I loved the salmon there, but wasnt too keen on poaching it.I rather have mine grilled  ;D.In my personal opinion   everything does taste better .I had said on another thread, that I forgot how much the milk in the UK tasted  better then in the US.Fresh and creamy!  :)

I never used to buy salmon to make at home in the US - here we have it a few times a month!  And the lamb - I LOVE lamb now.  I even ordered a lamb's liver dish when we were in Prague!  And it was so incredible - it was almost like steak.  Certainly nothing like the calf's liver I'm used to!

I love that it is easier to determine GMO and non GMO foods and to buy local rather than imports.  Even in the USA we try to buy local foods.

I to find that a lot of the food is great in the UK and I am sorry to say I do not miss fast food at all . . . I can make great fried chicken and mexican and prettty much anything I miss including a kicjk butt red beans and rice.

Truth is though that I am odd.  To me the first few bites of a Big Mac taste good and after that I get sick of it.  I eat fast food and my pores feel greasy and my gall bladder gets angry at me.  Though this happens to me with the thought of too many bangers as well.  I just can't take all the grease of unspecified orgin.   :P
