My first visit to Aldi!
« on: September 03, 2007, 06:46:20 PM »
I've always loved Lidl, but had never been to an Aldi before ... until this weekend!  ;D

My bf and I had been out for a drive and walk in the country and passed one on the way home. I never even knew it was there before! Because we weren't expecting to be doing any shopping, neither of us had plastic on us, nor much money - but we managed to scrounge together enough for a few treats! We bought some gorgeous honey with almonds in it! And a big box of fortune cookies!

There were lots of other things I'd like, so I'll definitely be making the trek back there again!

We have a handful of Aldi's in Coventry. I usually get my peanut butter there. A small jar of American imported peanut butter for 69p. Im totally jealous about the fortune cookies by the way! Frank has never heard of them. I would love to get some. I'll check out our Aldi's tomorrow. I hope I have good fortune!

I went to Aldi after work today and bought loads of stuff.

The prices are so good that I was a bit scared about the quality of the food, but so far so good!!

Big up for their fish fingers....from sustainably sourced pollock, and still reasonably priced!  You don't even get that at Waitrose!

Okay, I have to go to Aldi on my way tomorrow!  There is one in the town I work, so, I might as well check it out!

I wish we had Aldis up here.

I've only heard of one in the entire country and it's on the other side in Fife.  :\\\'(

I'd love to try the day and night cremes - apparently they're brilliant AND cheap.

I will get you some... there's an Aldi in Linlithgow, and i will be there on Thursday.

I've tried their night cream, but not the day cream yet... the night cream is good.  Just what you'd expect.  And i think it was only £1.49!

I prefer Lidl to Aldi, but Aldi does have at least one thing that Lidl doesnt... frozen Bavarian pretzels!  :)

I think there are a few Aldi stores in Scotland now, I know one is due to open in Inverness - if it hasn't already.

I just drove past the site the other day.  They have the steel frame up, but no more.

I went to Aldi a few times when we lived in Canterbury. They do have some nice baked goods and they had jalapeno poppers but apart from that I much prefer Lidl.

That's good news because Tesco has stopped doing their pollock fish fingers.  I'm pretty sure the ones I got from Lidl recently were pollock too.

How does it compare with Lidl's creams?

I personally don't know how they compare with Lidl's creams, as I don't really shop at Lidl's, so have never tried their creams.  I do love the face cream line from Aldi's though. Their cream even tied with Lancome's (£51) night cream when tested on "How To Look Good Naked" with Gok Wan a little while ago.  It beat out a lot of the very expensive creams by well known companies.
