Any ideas of what I can make for Rosh Hashanah besides honey cake?  I'd appreciate recipes! :)

I keep waiting for a certain skinny JAP friend to invite me for some nice Jewish Hols food but she just won't take the hint! What in the name of pkessler can I do?   ???  ;D

On another note my brother sent me this link. A short inspiring video.

Unless I come cook at your house, it ain't gonna happen, cause I could never get the 'Brady Bunch' into my postage stamp apartment.  :)

I would come and help you guys cook some Kneidlach, some tsimmes, some brisket and some honey cake...however I am off to NY next week for the holidays with my family!!!

Lucky me!!! My little boy can't wait to eat his grandmas matzoh balls (neither can his mother) not to mention the Bagels for breaking the fast the week after!!!

eta...make yourself a brisket...every holiday in my family is celebrated with a brisket!!!

Very true. My Rosh Hashanah wouldn't be the same without my mother's over cooked brisket that tastes and smells of shoe leather.  ;D Funny, she is always amazed about how moist mine is... um... I don't cook it for 4 hours at 375 with a pack of Lipton's Onion Soup!

Hey we're getting a huge (UK standards) 8 burner range for our new house so anytime!  ;D

Yummy matzo balls! I always have bagels and Philly in the house and on Saturday morns I add lox, onions and tomatoes. I got my Brit hubby hooked on them. He took them to work one day and people couldnt beleive what he was eathing. They've never seen or heard of lox n' bagels!

LOL My grandmother did the same exact thing! Onion soup and garlic salt. Smelled so good and after about an hour she would take it out and slice it up and put it back in the "gravy" to petrify for another two hours!  ::)

I actually put my brisket in the slow cooker with potatoes and it's not too bad.

I found a really good recipe for tsimmes the other year, on About.com I think. Its not my favorite dish at all but this one was pretty good.
Apparently the secret to a good brisket is adding a can of Coke to the pan. Sounds gross but it really works, and you avoid the shoe-leather consistency. Use lots of onions too so you get a nice gravy.
Good things come to those who wait...a really long time.

Mmmm, matzo ball soup!!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

This is the brisket I make, but usually for Hanukkah. It is so good with potato pancakes.

What section at Tesco? I got some from Ocado (Waitrose delivery), but haven't seen it at Tesco.
