US Food Missed-what to indulge in and maybe bring back!
« on: September 07, 2007, 08:39:51 AM »
Right, I searched through the threads, and picked out some different foods I forgot I missed and others I am craving big time.  I am sorry if this is a repeat or cross thread, but as I prepare to go back to the states for the first time since I have moved to the UK I am looking for lists of things to enjoy while I am there and what I need to bring back with me in my excess luggage.

1. Peanut Butter
2. Ranch Dressing
3. Mac n Cheese
4. Oreos
5. Graham Crackers
6.  Mountain Dew

Anyone else help me fill my list and suitcases?

I always bring back mac and cheese (they have it here but its not the same), Trappey's Red Devil Cayenne pepper sauce, and last time I brought back 2 boxes of Hamburger Helper. Ah memories!
I think you can get Ranch dressing here now?
Good things come to those who wait...a really long time.

Where can you get Ranch dressing from? also do you know who makes the ranch dressing? I don't know about other people but I'm kind of picky about my ranch dressing I prefer Kraft or Hidden Valley. Thanks in advance  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

I got some Oreos from Farm Foods last week I'm glad you can get them here but they are just slightly different than the Oreo's from back home. but they satisfy me when I'm having a craving for Oreos.  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Hurrah, okay then, may not need to get Oreos or Ranch from the states, but could if there is room and weight available.  Thank you all!  *makes a mad dash to Farm Foods*  [smiley=smug2.gif]

I honestly taste no difference in the Oreos - but maybe I've been here too long?

Good to know I'm not the only one who thought they tasted slightly different. I also agree with you about the Dill pickles as well. I also bring back ziploc bags as well. Dh laughs at me when I wash a used ziploc bag that has had food in it so I can use it over & over I think I'm being frugal I think is the word. because if not I would be having my mom & sisters constantly sending me over a new supply of ziploc bags otherwise.   ::)  :P

Find a good Jewish deli for pickles.  Had some fabulous ones at a Kosher restaurant in London - they do exist here.

Where can you get Ranch dressing from?

The last time I was in Lidl, they had ranch dressing. I don't like it so I haven't done a taste test, but it was there!  :)

We unfortunalty dont live anywhere near London so I have to wait till I go back to the States for my pickle fix.

Thanks, but we dont have a Lidil near us but thanks anyways.

i bring back (to the UK) food wise:
karo syrup
butterfingers
jiffy cornmuffin mix
bisquick (lowfat)
cookie mixes (although i've seen them here now)
canned pumpkin (i acutally like pies made from canned more)
annie's mac & cheese
crushed graham crackers (for cheesecakes)
hershey's minatures
large bag of choc chips
If you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
