It's one of his favorite books, btw.

I think it might be my very favourite book! That always creates a bit of danger when going to see a film.  :-\\\\

Meh. I found her rib cage to be really distracting. It actually spoilt the film for me.

Chary, what if I said "I hated Dreamgirls because Jennifer Hudson's rolls of fat just really ruined the film for me".....  wouldn't you find that....a wee bit offensive?

IF people hated her performance, or her interpretation of the character, than fair enough. But for people to only comment on how overly thin she looks in the film strikes me as rather unfair on the actress...She didnt pick out the backless emerald gown - that was the wardrobe dept. For me, I thought she looked lovely and very typical of a an aristocratic type during the war - they weren't big girls back then.

And incidentally, she was meant to play the older Briony but the director saw her walk into a room at a party and thought she was so stunning that he switched her to the character of Cecilia. Lola mentioned Rosamund Pike as a choice who is the girlfriend of the director Joe Wright. Obviously, nepotism didn't work in this instance..or unfortunately, too old to play 22.

And yes, my old man still concurs that he so WOULD. ::)

Not if that was your honest opinion. No.

As I said before, I do not want to get into yet another debate about fat vs thin actresses. Really, I do not. Maybe when a significantly overweight actress gets a lead romantic role, we can talk. Until then, it's really a moot point.
