I would go if it was closer.  Or, if I had a car.  And somebody else to drive with...

If anybody gets tickets, do tell!

Oh man. I've been watching my email religiously hoping that seefilmfirst would send me a code for this but no luck yet.

They must be sending them out in batches or something -- we just got tickets yesterday for the 1 Nov screening.

Get thee to a cinema to see this film! Not only is it an interesting film, but it has the added gorgeousness of Clive Owen as Sir Walter Raleigh....Oh. My. God.  He can swash my buckle whenever he wants!
Pedants' corner...Mary Queen of Scots was imprisoned in Fotheringhay Castle which was definitely not in the mountains of Scotland but the totally English countryside of Northamptonshire.

I saw it on Friday night and as much as I enjoyed it (especially the costumes!), I found it not as good as the first one. The first one focused much more on the controversy around the queen, this movie focused much more on the Queen as a person and struggling with being queen and wanting to be normal as well. The first half was better than the second half, where it was more focused on the people rather than action. I was disappointed with the relationship of Sir walter raleigh and the queen or lack thereof. Supposedly, if this one does well enough, they will make a 3rd one about facing mortality. Worth it to see the costumes!
