One amusing little bit to add.
When the luggage courier arrived the next day, I was looking forward to the fact that the luggage was being delivered to our door (as the airline had informed us)....ESPECIALLY since there is about a 30 yard walk or so from the street to our door and there is a slight hill involved. Well, the courier tries to tell me that we have to collect from the street. I baulked at that and so he went out to retrieve them.
I was heading out to the street to help when I noticed he was beginning to begin to pull his van up into the grass in front of our housing complex.... My neighbours would NOT have been happy with that, but I did get him stopped. He must have been concerned I was going to call the boss or something as he apologized repeatedly for the way he handled the drop-off.
Anyhow, in the long run, happy ending, all their luggage was fine.
