Dental insurance
« on: September 09, 2007, 06:08:11 PM »
Live in scotland now desperate to find a dentist.
Anyone know of a decent dental insurance?

any help is greatly appreciated.  Already tried the nhs route and have not heard back from them.  I signed up for a nhs dentist a year ago and nothing which is what I  expected.  Now needing to see a dentist ... ;D

I have Denplan. You'll have to pay for your initial checkup with a private dentist - they'll do an evaluation and your monthly Denplan payments will be based on that. It's pretty affordable.

Do you have something wrong you need fixed - i.e. crowns, fillings etc?  If you are just going for a routine check up and clean, and generally don't have problems with your teeth, you may find insurance doesn't save you any money.  I worked it out that against the premiums I would pay through my company's dental insurance, I would have to have 2 fillings a year to "save" any money vs just paying out of pocket privately.  Good luck!

i just pay-as-i-go.  but i have savings to cover an emergency crown or something of the like.  if i didn't, i'd think more about dental insurance.

i def don't see dental insurnace as critcal as compared to health insurance.

another thing to think about- certain dental offices only take certain insurances.  if you want to go to a particular surgery, call them up and ask which ones they take.

have you tried to find an NHS dentist?
If you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.
