I would second Jinos. Damn good food. If you want some tex/mex then the Caliente Cafe is nice too.

How come we have never met? I practically live there on weekends - well, used to, anyways!  ;D

And Elynor: take the train and then catch the number 1 bus on Infirmary Street (near the train station), as they run very often: http://www.leeds.gov.uk/files/2005/week37/inter__46AFB47B193D1C4680256E0F00539325_0707ec24-3b5c-4e6f-b9d4-2c76adb2027d.pdf

I'm a hermit. :)

I only live in Kirkstall, we'll have to arrange another Leeds meetup sometime soon.

Please tell me this is going to be a fantastic trip. I hate traveling alone, especially when it involves public transport, and I'm feeling irrationally nervous.  :-[ Yorkshire had better be worth it!

You can come and see our Medieval walls in York!  They are quite cool.  :)  Public transport (if you know the lines you need, as provided by others) is a snap here.  You'll be fine.  Trains run between York and Leeds every half hour.  Besides, York is only a mile across, inside the walls, which makes it hard to get too lost!   ;D

You underestimate my capacity for getting lost! ;D I wish I could go see the medieval walls, but I'm not going to see much besides bad PowerPoint. :P Dratted work.

If you're going to be in York city centre then you really can't miss the walls because the city is literally surrounded by them. It's a shame if you miss it, York is awesome. So full of history.

And don't worry about public transport. It's dead easy and you're going to a busy town that is full of tourists so people are used to other people not knowing their way around. :)

I'm a hermit. :)

Yes, I used to catch a glimpse of the elusive Ashley every now & then on the 50(A) line bus. ;)

'Till I got fed up of the 50(A) line bus & try to limit my bus riding exclusively (whenever possible) to the 97(A) line. :)
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Thanks everybody, it ended up being a great trip. I got in some good gaping at the York walls from the bus and taxi--gorgeous! We will definitely be back to York sometime when we can see everything properly.

I didn't have any major problems with transport, just a little trouble with finding my bus stop in Leeds, but that was due to my own disorientation and inability to read maps.  ::)

Yorkshire is every bit as lovely, and the people every bit as friendly, as I'd been led to believe.  :D
