Anyone have any recommendations on some good companies? We started with one that our financial director was selling but we are more and more not happy with them. They quoted us a rate of £23.38 when we initially signed up which we thought was too bad. But then they found out I have PCOS and they sent us a letter that they are unable to offer us the Guaranteed Insurability options. They won't do a waiver of premium benefit for me and have now quoted us a rate of £48.33 a month which we are not happy at all with. We haven't signed these papers as we want to have a look around. I spoke to the guy at the Assurance Society who said that this decision was based on my polycysitic ovaries. I asked him if that warranted the premium to be more than doubled because if they had a look at my other health history, I am completely healthy otherwise. Sure, a little overweight but that's due to PCOS. I asked if they looked at my family history as well as we have no major illnesses. The guy told us that they have to go on what the GP has stated. I said I read what the GP wrote and he just simply stated I have been diagnosed 12 years ago.
Guy:oh but there are factors that come with this condion.
Me: do you know much about it, then?
Guy: No
Me: I could probably tell you whole lot more about it than my GP could as they don't specialize in this field
Guy:Oh but they are a specialist.
Me: No, they can refer me to a specialist. So, are you going to more than double our premium despite the fact I am healthy otherwise.
Guy:We have to go on what our Chief Medical officer says
Me: Is he a practicing MD?
Guy: No, he makes the decision but you can write and appeal the decision.
At which point I just asked him to give me the address.
Basically, does anyone know, in their experience, if this is probably what I should expect from most companies and does anyone have any good recommendations on companies?
