I am planning on making some fresh whipped cream in the food processor to go with it, as well, and was wondering if you generally add vanilla and icing sugar to the cream while whipping?
I'm sooooo nervous about doing it all myself this time!   :-\\\\
I usually add just a little icing sugar. Last year I think I may have skipped it. But I don't have a huge sweet tooth.

You'll be fine! It's doable, I promise--it just takes a little organization. And hey, who's going to know how it's supposed to be? ;D

3 turkeys
1 ham
mashed potaotes
roasted brussels with bacon & raisans
candied sweet potatoes
stuffing- sage, possibily with sausage
gravy
corn casserole (doubles as biscuits)

dessert is potluck but...
pumpkin
pumpkin apple thingy
apple crumble
custard
custard
more custard

My first Thanksgiving in the UK I was invited to my friend's house in Manchester.  She's American, doing a course there that year and shared the house with hordes of other people.  One was an Englishman who had studied in the US and fell in love with Thanksgiving so every year threw a huge bash.  I think there was turkey but not much else that was "traditional" but -- hey, it was fun!   ;)

Sorry Mrs. R, no clue on the pie, I'm pretty new at this stuff!

But I was wondering, my mom sent me a can of pumpkin pie mix that says just add condensed milk, is that right?  Or do you guys add other stuff to it as well to make it extra tasty?

Sounds like you have pumpkin pie mix and not just plain canned pumpkin. However, it does make a really nice pumpkin pie.
Yup on the icing sugar and vanilla.  Make sure the cream is nice and cold for the peaks.

It will be great ;-)

Wow Meggles, 39 people want to come to Thanksgiving? Awesome. :) :)

I've decided that I'm not having Thanksgiving, I'm not feeling well enough to do it. Probably will attempt to re-create a mini one though for actual thanksgiving day, nothing too crazy, turkey cutlets, cranberry jelly, mash, peas... etc.

That's what I will most likely do next year....  :P
It's what I would normally do, but this year, the pressure is on, so no Stove Top stuffing... lol

On whipped cream, if you're feeling adventurous - you can also put a little booze into it (just a trickle) - of like brandy or Grand Marnier, etc.  I've done it before!  :)

Who doesn't like a little booze????   My in-laws would DEFINITELY be down for that!  They love Metaxa and Southern Comfort, so I might give one of those a try!

Garbanzo beans (chick peas) would also be a good thing for Thanksgiving & vegans!  Considering the first Thanksgiving.  Just leave out the salt pork, of course!  :)

I think pea beans are more appropriate for Boston Baked Beans -- or possibly kidney beans.  But maybe they did have chick peas.  Anyway, I'd vote for the BBB with lots of molasses (treacle)   ;)
