OK. It's noon on Thanksgiving Day and my bf has just gaily informed me that, yes, he would like to have Thanksgiving dinner today after all. AAARRRGH!

I'm going to attempt an easy very scaled-down version:

roast chicken (shhhh... don't tell anyone, but I don't really like turkey!)
mashed potatoes
the dreaded green bean casserole
candied yams
shop-bought (gasp!) cranberry sauce
pecan pie

Lucky you!  So far (beginning last night & continuing on today) I can't get my British OH to even feign any enthusiasm whatsoever, and it's really bringing me down.  :-\\\\

I don't think he minds one way or another what the occasion is - it's just an excuse to have a huge meal.

My menu:
Turkey crown (trying a recipe from my BFF who uses white wine to roast)
Cornbread dressing
green bean casserole
sweet potato casserole
mashed potatoes
gravy
sweet corn
steamed brocc and cauli
pecan pie
pumpkin pie
choc chip cookies for my nephews

so far, so good, but we aren't eating until 6 or 6:30, so I haven't put the turkey in yet
getting excited and had to shoo DH back to work as he was just hanging around the kitchen soaking in the smells on his lunch break and getting in the way!   ;D

That's one prison I'd have to break out of, I'm afraid! I'm very glad mine likes food as much as I do!  :)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I hope if you're not cooking or doing this US holiday formally that you spend some time with family and at least take a moment to think of the things you're grateful for in your life!
Have a good day! x

Well in fairness, he did have to go into work at 4 am this morning.  He said he'll be more excited when we are actually having our Thanksgiving meal - or else, he can just watch the rest of us eat & go sleep outside that night.  ;)

So I had totally forgotten until I went to make green bean casserole tonight that in the UK the cans of soup are not concentrated. I hope it still turns out ok

Batchelors (used to be Campbells) make condensed soup.
