Wish we could take it off!  But my daughter has school and I work in a school so I don't get holidays during term time.  It's easier for DH to take a day off than it is for me.  So we'll do it on the weekend, but it works out nice because after dinner we put up the Christmas tree- it makes a really nice family event and lead up to December.  I can't wait!

We're doing ours on the Saturday after, that way my in-laws can make it.  I bought a pie plate today, and am sooo excited to use it!

I have been in the UK a few years now. When we're here in the UK for T-Day, both the husband and his family take work off and we do the full traditional T-meal at ours. I love keeping my American traditions alive for the kids (who lived stateside for many years) and the in-laws love the new tradition in their lives! The husband lived in the states with me for almost a decade and he loves himself some Thanksgiving as well. And now that we have Sky Sports, it'll be like Thanksgivings past with the football on all day!

Thanksgiving is my most favoritist holiday!!!
Let them eat cupcakes!

Officially Britishly since August 2013

Don't know yet where I/we will be on Thanksgiving.  ??? Last year was the first one without Em so the three of us went to a restaurant and had the set turkey dinner. It was good -- but sad.

So sad I can't make it home for Thanksgiving and Black Friday shopping! I couldn't get enough time off work in a row to make a trip home worth the cost :(

Instead, I'm thinking I will have a T-day party here with some other fellow expats and their families.  I've got cans of pumpkin puree and seen some turkeys in Tesco :oP

This will be my first Thanksgiving out of the US and not with my family on an army base!

I already informed my new job that I would need to be off for Thanksgiving.  :P I intend to take every T-day off as long as I live!  :D My parents just left and I went to the US and spend T-day with them last year, so this year, I will be doing it here. I had invited over some American friends who live locally, but they seem to be discussing other plans... so I may just do it for the in-laws. My FIL loves food and has already asked me about T-day, so it seems like he is expecting me to do it again for them like I did the first year.  ;D I may even do it twice - once on the Thursday and again on the Saturday! I love Thanksgiving!

I might do a ham instead of a turkey, believe it or not.  :o DH has to have turkey for Christmas, so I thought something different would be nice. All I know for sure is that there must be cornbread stuffing (traditional) and instead of pumpkin pie, I'm making pumpkin cupcakes with cinnamon cream cheese icing (DH loves them and doesn't care for pumpkin pie) and maple pecan squares, I think. I've got my fresh pumpkin and intend to roast and puree it this week to put in the freezer for the yummy cupcakes!  :D

Goodness, I must be the only person who doesn't like Thanksgiving! I've had digestive issues since I was very young, so a day that revolves around food is an absolute nightmare. Several years ago I actually scheduled to have my wisdom teeth removed the day before Thanksgiving so that I'd have an excuse to skip it all. So happy to have moved to the UK and am not expected to celebrate it anymore. :-\\\\

Sounds great!!  I started my job in July and since it's at a hospital, everyone puts their leave requests in at the start of the of the holiday requests year.  I missed out and just couldn't book the week before or after Thanksgiving.  It takes me about 24hrs just to get back home and of course I lose a day when I return back here.  I kill at least 3 days traveling.  :o\

Not sure if/when I'll be able to go back for a Thanksgiving if I make it into uni next year.

Love thanksgiving, even though it's not my holiday :D Had a big one last year and will probably do the same again if nothing comes up, I normally get an organic turkey from Whole Foods, they taste AMAZING, they have a proper almost gamey flavour and nothing like the bland white meat you normally get on a turkey. Stuffing, cornbread, pumpkin pie, oreo peanut butter pie, macaroni cheese, chive mashed potatoes,  everyone piles over and we play games and lie around feeling stuffed :)

I don't normally do recipes on Thanksgiving (I like to keep things simple) but I might do http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2010/09/coming-round-the-mountain/ as it looks pretty darn delicious.  D has insisted on homemade mac and cheese (easy peasy) and my favorite thing is sweet potato mash with caramelized marshmallows.  Nom nom nom...

That sounds DELICIOUS!!
But my homemade mac & cheese has always been rather blah.  Never like my mom made it which was YUM.

Just bought a teal Le Creuset pie dish for £12 at Whisk! :D So I'm all geared up for T-day, may have to make a trial run pie :)
