MMmm that looks yummy!!

I'm getting pretty sick of leftovers- but I love food/hate waste, so have turkey stock on the stove- will make soup tomorrow and freeze some.  Almost done with all the food though, and I will proud of myself if I can do it.

Really though, I'm just craving a big giant steak  :P

With thanksgiving only two months away I've been doing some planning, hope to make some balsamic pearl onions this year, anyone know where in London you can get these?  Is it possible to use regular onions or shallots?

I made creamed pearl onions last year and I just used shallots. It came out amazing!

I'm hosting a big Thanksgiving this year for friends! I've never hosted Thanksgiving before, so it's going to be interesting, but I am so so so so soooooooo looking forward to it. We have a butcher/poulterer in the next village over, so I think I may order the bird from there.  :)

It will be on the Saturday following Thanksgiving so that no one will have to work. I am cooking the turkey, the taters, and doing some veg and cranberry sauce as well, and every one else will be bringing a dish of their choosing like a dessert or, just anything really. And probably wine, lots and lots of wine.   ;)

This will be my 4th Thanksgiving in the UK! (3rd as a resident. ;) )

I know that I will be making....
Spinach dip to start!
Turkey with homemade stuffing and gravy
Sweet potatoes
PW's cheesy herbed potatoes
Green bean casserole
Cranberry Sauce
Pumpkin Pie

But probably some new things thrown in as well!

And I'm sure my MIL will request roast potatoes, and then be insulted that I don't want to make an extra dish... Just like last year ;)
Finally living with my Husband in London after 6 1/2 years together but apart... and loving my life!

I'm downsizing (UK) Thanksgiving dinner this year!  Last 3 years, I threw a huge shindig at our house for 20+- expats/spouses/kiddos.  Someone else's turn this year.  ;) :)

Meanwhile, we are off that week on a self-catering getaway to the Yorkshire Dales in a cottage with a woodburning fireplace & I'll cook for just the two of us (for a change!) on Thanksgiving Day itself.

Just wondering how much/how little to have or not to have - that is the question!!  Might be cruising this thread for some new ideas, but since it'll just be me doing the cooking (vs a potluck) - I think I need to make myself a project timeline for getting some of it done in advance.

While I'm happy to be back among family this year (I was here last year too), I will miss making my little Thanksgiving celebration for just DH and I.

Mrs R, just find a turkey crown or turkey breast for you and Mr R. I always got ours at M&S. The rest of it, well that's the beauty of Thanksgiving! You can have whatever you want!

We'll be at the mercy of family (I'm not hosting), but I'm definitely making Brussel sprouts with bacon.

I've just realised that I've booked a girly night in with my friends on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. So maybe I'll make a pumpkin pie to go with all our cava.

I'll probably make a small turkey (or turkey crown) for us on the day but I don't intend to go all out this year.

Anyone have a good recipe for a nut/lentil/vegetarian roast for Thanksgiving?  While we still eat fish we no longer eat meat.
