My personal Holy Grail -- Peanut Butter
« on: March 27, 2004, 11:18:10 PM »
The scene opens:

We are focused on a Sainsbury's in a sleepy little town.  A ray of light shines down from the heavens.

We zoom in on the light and follow it to it's conclusion.

At the end, bathed in angelic light with heavenly music filling the air, we see....         [smiley=angel.gif]

SKIPPY PEANUT BUTTER, BABY!

Oh yes. I found it.  At two separate Sainsbury's.  I couldn't be happier.  I've bought about a million tubs just in case they stop stocking it.

Not as good as my Jif but a d@mn close second!!!

That's it.  I can now live in this country forever.  That was my one big complaint.

Hallelujah.

I'm not much of a peanut butter lover myself (other than in candies or icecream!) but it is a breakfast staple with my twins...so off I go shopping...and come home with tiny jars for twice the price as here. Glad you found your "comfort food." Now, if I could just find the nothing-added-but juice and juice concentrate cranberry blends!

What a shame it took you so long to find the Skippy, Collington!  I've been buying it in Sainsburys for at least a year.  I feel a bit guilty!  ;)

I've heard (from an American) that Kwik-Save's own brand peanut butter tastes exactly like Jif or Skippy, but comes in a bigger jar and is cheaper.  Not tried it myself, has anyone else?

I buy my cranberry juice from Sainsburys. They do have ocean spray and their own brand, 75p. :D And it's pure juice, nothing added!

Well that's irritating, because our Sainsbury's stopped selling it about a year ago and we now have to go to Cullen's and pay about a squillion pounds a jar.

My Sainsburys stopped selling Skippy for about 3 months, but it's back again... maybe you should check and see?

Oh, I check.  I'm a compulsive Peanut Butter 'checker'.  That's how I found out that Cullen's had it.   :)

We are freaky peeps and like the natural peanut butter.  Smuckers makes a good one without all the added sugar and hydrogenated fats.

Though to be honest Skippy and Jif go better with marshmellow fluff!  ;D  If you are going to die might as well die happy!

I'm perfectly happy with Sainsbury's peanut butter.  So are the kids.

Oh Fluffernutter!  *drool... you are on Chris. :-)

Never tired the Sainbury's brand.  My SIL had some odd brand I had never heard of.  To be honest I was surprised to find it in her cupboard.

Our local Whole Foods does a fresh ground honey roasted peanut butter that is....orgasmic. 100% peanut.  Yummy!  With warm bread..... *sigh..

The larger Asdas have nice US foods sections and they have Skippy. I am sure they do it for less than Sainsburys and all.
Good things come to those who wait...a really long time.
