Not sure if you can find them in the UK, but I had a similar problem a year or so ago. Sort of all at once all my shoes were killing my feet. I was just spending alot more time on them than I had. I bought some gel/cushiony insole type things and they worked wonders. I ended up buying a set for several pairs of shoes and it made a big difference. They weren't terribly expensive if I remember right.

Becky, I'm interested to know what you ended up doing, and whether it has solved your problem?  Did you get the walking shoes, boots?  Which kind?  Did they work out?  Are your feet ok now?

I didn't end up getting any walking shoes, frankly because I completely forgot and have been busy. I actually think, though, that I have gotten used to walking a lot. My feet don't hurt nearly as much unless I was up at 7am and walking until 11PM (and by then, anyone's feet would hurt). I think it ended up being a matter of me not being used to all the walking, and my feet not wanting to do the work. If I know I'm going to be out walking a lot though, I always make sure I'm wearing my clark's shoes. If I'm out and have to walk a lot in my converse or my fake uggs (yes, I know, make fun... but sometimes it's so cold and my ankles freeze!), my feet are in a lot of pain when I get home. I think that's just because there's no arch support in those shoes, and there is in my clark's shoes.

Thanks for following up though! :)

I've yet to come home from a trip to London without foot pain and/or blisters. No matter what sort of shoes I wear I always end up aching after long walks.

My husband and I both have gotten used to the walking for the most part etc, but when I wake up and stand up, for the 1st few seconds there is pain in my feet. I've been here since the beginning of August so I don't know how long it will last. Hopefully it will go away. We don't have a car so we walk alot and use public transport.

my chiro converted me to orthotics. I wear them religiously. Simple inserts you can put in your shoes to give you arch support. You can pick up a pair at Boots.
