I've had gummy bears and Cadbury in the US, but none of the other stuff.

I didn't think the US was country fond of Marzipan. I know you can buy marzipan but I have never seen it made into candies or incorporated into cakes and candy.

Didn't you get marzipan fruit at Christmas time? We always did!

Maybe New England is a bit more like 'old' England because we definitely had access to all of those things!  ;D

I guess that extends to the US northeast in general.

I know in Providence they had a lot of marzipan stuff in the Italian part of the city.  I had all that stuff, maybe not Jelly Babies, but I hate marzipan.

You could have had mine Q-G.

Minstrels.

I second the Galaxy candy bars & Minstrels those 2 are absolute favorite things here in the UK.  ;D  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]

Where did you live in the US that you never had jelly babies, gummy bears, Turkish delight and  marzipan in the US?

I never heard of Jelly Babies or Turkish delight till I moved to the UK, I'm from the Midwest. I'm not fond of marzipan or Blackcurrant flavored candy. whenever I have some candy with blackcurrant in it I save it for Dh's friends wife who loves blackcurrant candy.

I heard of Turkish Delight from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and how depressed was I when I tried the mass produced stuff.  Blechhhh.  The Turkish resturant here in Cambridge makes some really nice fresh stuff though.

We did in Germany but not when we went back to the US.
Still tired of coteries and bans. But hanging about anyway.

We had marzipan fruit in Maryland. I think Hickory Farms sold it. My mother is an almond freak so she usually got some.

I can't think of any British candy that I really love that I'd miss in the US. I like a lot of them (Minstrels, fruit and nut bars) but I'm not a big candy eater tbh.

What I absolutely detest are wine gums. DH loves them and eats bags of them when he's trying to stay off the cigarettes. I can't even kiss him if he's eaten them!

Bleuh!!!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

Marzipan is OK, but it gets sickening pretty quickly. It's not something you can have a lot of.

What are wine gums?

they're just gummy fruit sweeties that are probably meant to taste like wine, but don't!  I hate them.   ;)

Dh & I love wine gums before my diet we could get through a bag between rather quickly, now I only have a few every so often & Dh has the rest of the bag all to himself.

I like wine gums. They're DB's favourite.  :)

I also like minstrels and the UK Cadbury chocolates.

I've heard of marzipan in the US, but have never had it. I'd never head of Jelly Babies until now and never heard of Turkish Delight until The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe.

Gummy bears are everywhere though.
