Marzipan is OK, but it gets sickening pretty quickly. It's not something you can have a lot of.

Speak for yourself!  ;D

they're just gummy fruit sweeties that are probably meant to taste like wine, but don't!  I hate them.   ;)

I looooove wine gums! I like to suck them until they get so thin that they look like stained glass windows!

Hmm, this is odd.  I've had marzipan and Turkish delight in the US (I made marzipan candies using a recipe in a vintage cookbook and actually found the Turkish delight at a Turkish store at the market where I get groceries), but I definitely have never found jelly babies here.  In fact, people give me weird looks when I fantasize about how great they are and how American gummis can't even come close to satisfying my jelly baby craving.

Sometimes if I'm really lucky my boyfriend mails them to me ^_^  I think I miss them equally for their yumminess and the way they remind me of him.

When I was a kid, we'd sometimes get licorice pipes.  Kind of bitter, and full of something like baking powder.  Also hard candies full of similar fizzy stuff.  From England, but I haven't seen them here.  Those fizzy candies were great!

Wine gums are available everywhere in Canada, but some are better than others. If you go to Victoria, there's a bakery that makes tons of marzipan fruit/other stuff.  Beautiful, but ick (to me).  Turkish Delight has always been around in Canada, in its commercially-produced form.  Not bad, but certainly not as wonderful as the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe suggested.

Sherbet Fountains! I loved the sherbet, but hated the licorice! I think they still sell them.

Ok, don't hurt me, but are Jelly Babies the same as Jelly bellies? I would have to say that the Galaxy bars are my favorite here.

I've never really been all that big on sweets so I can't say that I've got a favorite British candy, but my husband brought home a bag of pear drops the other day.........and I am only slightly embarrassed to admit that by the next day I had eaten the entire bag.  :P

Minstrels are also pretty tasty.  ;D

Well, to be honest, I'm not much of a sweets person. I much prefer spicy/savoury treats.

Pontefract cakes, the blackcurrant hard candies with the chewy liquorice centers, mint humbugs, treacle toffee. My teeth are doomed.

Not even close!  Jelly babies are these little candies that are shaped like babies and they're soooo yummy.  Seriously, if you haven't tried them yet and you're in the UK right now, go get some! :D

I'm a big fan of the cola flavored gummies. I know they have them in the US but not as common around here and the flavor was not quite the same. I also like Curly Wurlies and the little boxes of Poppets the "ballsy chocolates". I love the toffee flavor.  :P
