Tomorrow we're heading into the depths of Chicago for the final process in getting David permanent residence here... the interview portion of the application to remove conditions on his green card. We filed the paperwork a year ago and it took this long to get the interview. I haven't been worrying about it at all until *just now* because I'm doing the Oh-SO familiar process of rounding up 4.2 tons of paperwork. It seems like I've done this a million times, both to get me to the UK and to then get him here.

I HATE pre-interview jitters, I hate them. I'm not a jittery person even, but I guess it is just because that one little person who doesn't know you at all has so much power in their hands, and so much is riding on this! I suspect we'll sail through - no reason not to - but still! I need a stiff drink!!!

If all goes well then I'm DONE with immigration paperwork forever and ever amen.

Until 10 yr s from now when he has to renew his green card? but that doesn't count. :)
I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

Good luck Marlespo!  I'm sure you'll do fine.  We passed our green card interview once upon a time, in spite of forgetting our phone number as well as the name of the church where we were married!  I think the interviewer thought "These people are too stupid to be fakers."  :-[  ;D

Good luck!  I can't tell you how it is supposed to go, because all they asked for with us was our latest tax returns....of course this was after we got wrongly detained by a new IO coming back into the US from the UK so two weeks later at the interview/hearing I think they felt a bit sorry for us. :-P

Oh my God that was easier than sneezing!!!

We walked in for out 7:45 appointment, the guy took us to the room, he looked at our babies and said "you guys sure do look married to me!", and we were out of there in less than 10 minutes.

Also, he let my 3 yr old pretend he was having ain interview too, so Philip got fingerprinted and got to sign his name on our forms! He was chuffed. :)

So hooray hooray the conditions are gone and he'll be getting his new greenbeige card in the mail in a few weeks! :D

I'm so glad that it was straightforward for you!  It's such a relief when beauracrats turn out to be sensible.

I thought my husband's "green" card was actually pink?

How'd you like that spelling of bureaucrat?  Think I'm a little vowel-impulsive?  ;D
