Because really, for any native-born American, the first thing grilled cheese tastes of is home. In that lies its true appeal.

Yum, I like my grilled cheese with mustard.

My dad's one and only specialty is grilled cheese - he makes them for me every day when I go home to visit!  ;D

My mom used to make great grilled cheese sandwiches (even with Velveeta--hey, there were eight of us), but she always grilled them quickly on the top shelf of the oven.

We have a cafe on our work estate and they will make anything I want.  So one day I taught them how to make a proper grilled cheese sandwich.  Ahhh he makes the best!  I love them really...even if it is a greasy spoon.   ;D

Grilled cheese is the one thing my mom is able to cook better than my dad. I love grilled cheese, I'm craving one so badly!! Maybe we'll have grilled cheese and fries for dinner tonight. DB'll love that!  ;)

I make the best grilled cheese! Miracle whip, dairylea slices (or kraft) and lots of butter in the pan with the bread, that's the trick, butter and lots of it! Great when pmsing :)

Me, too.

Though Q-G's crispy fried onions sound good, too!!!

Tomatoes and green chile is even better! ;D

Our favorite sandwich shop in the last place we lived did a bunch of unusual grilled cheese sandwiches that were awesome: one with olive tapenade, another with sweet potato crisps, and one with, yes, crispy fried onions!

My secret is buttering both sides of the bread and using 2 slices of American cheese (1 time it's actually better than 'real' cheese).

My mom thinks it's gross, but I enjoy making my grilled cheese with some herbs & spices sprinkled on the bread (usually garlic powder, some chili powder, and Italian herbs).

Now best paired with mulligatawny soup! (my new fav soup in the UK)
