Did I Read Them Right?

Ok, I was trying not to ask questions that others have asked so I was looking through old posts, but I just want to make sure I am reading them right.

I am lucky enough to live in Southern CA and am only a couple hours from the British Consulate in LA.  So I'm hoping that, from what I've read, I can walk in within a certain time of the morning, hand over visa forms and money, proof of our relationship, intent to marry, letters from his family members stating that I will not resort to public funds, hopefully be "approved", come back a few hours later and get my visa??

Did I read it right or is this just wishful thinking on my part?

I have read so many stories of people who have gone through the K-1 process to come to the US and it taking about a year.  Is this the same for moving to the UK or am I just thinking its all going to be harder than it really is?

You're thinking it will be harder than it really is!  Hoorrah!  

I don't know about the LA consulate specifically, but the visa process to move over here is *much* easier.  As long as you have the right documentation and they are satisfied with your application, you can indeed have your visa in had on the same day!  

You might want to check though.  I know the NY Consulate doesn't want people walking in anymore - they want you to use the Fast Track application and schedule an appointment online.  I don't know if the LA Consulate is the same way right now?
