Moving an ill parent over?
« on: October 12, 2007, 10:13:34 PM »
Has anyone done this?  My mom is going to need care soon (now, really) and the family are all looking to me to do it.  She should be able to get UK nationality easily, as she was born here to  UK nationals, but I have no idea about switching her health insurance.  Her drugs are mega expensive.

(and we have to move back to Japan, but that's another topic..)

Anyways, if anyone has looked into this, any info would help.

Hi, sorry to hear your mother is not well. If she's a UK national she will be entitled to NHS treatment.  It might be a good idea to check with your GP that the treatment and drugs she needs are available on the NHS though.  You might also be able to find out through the NHS Direct site:
