Peanut butter.
« on: October 15, 2007, 11:11:20 AM »
Does anybody know where I can get a jar of peanut butter?  I've found some jars in Asda, but they aren't like anything from America... they are unsalted and lack a lot of flavour.  Any luck with other stores?  I'm looking for brands that I would find back home (i.e. Jiffy, etc.).
The chances are there's a reason we've been left here, but I'm not disappointed.  - Idlewild

My husband got a jar of Skippy from Lupe Pintos. They're in Edinburgh but they do mail order.

A search of "peanut butter" came up with 2 pages of threads - maybe check one of them out?  Because quite frankly, I'm not sure if some of us can handle another thread about peanut butter... ::)

That's not very nice! At least you could give her a couple of links.

You can get Skippy Peanut Butter at Sainsbury's.  If you have a Costco Membership you can get the 1Kg jars.

When I didn't order Jif from Skyco we would get Skippy from Sainsbury's or Selfridges.

I've always ordered Jif from the States (through Skyco--its email address is either www.skyco.com or www.skyco.co.uk). I'm sorry, but I'm unable to check right now.

If you happen to become friends with any U.S. military personnel, government workers, or contractors they can pick it up for you at the commissary.  ;)

The peanutbutter at Aldi is by far the best and tastes a lot like Skippy/Jif. I think it's called Route66. It's also only 69p a jar.

I saw that one at Lidl last week and wondered if it was any good, so thanks for the recommendation, I'll get some next time!

They sell Skippy in tiny jars at our Waitrose. For some reason when I got here I gently accepted peanut butter back into my diet (after several bad encounters), and picked some up when I saw it.
