I'll eat the lasagna with bechamel, but it's not really my thing.  Meh.

In Florida, I was taught how to make lasagna by a Noo Yawk Italian-American, and it doesn't have any bloody bechamel sauce in it - that's for sure!  But it does have lots of meatballs, Italian sausage, ricotta, mozzarella & red sauce in it -- served with lots of fresh grated parm on the side.  ;)

Yeah yeah yeah thats the way to do it!!  ;D

Lasagne and chips is a staple of English '90's pub food, before everything went all 'gastro'! This is the only situation where ketchup can be put on lasagne - in my experience, to hide the bland taste of the bechamel sauce!   ;)

Bechamel sauce on lasagne is, however, only bland if it is cooked badly. It shouldn't be a heavy flavour, but it should certainly add to the dish and should never be watery.

Yes thats true, chips and lasagne is/was a constant on pub menus. I still think its just wrong  ???

well rest assured, the rest of Britian doesn't eat it this way, although now I expect a dozen  people will come and post they've seen it done!

I think there probably aren't many foods in the world that some idiot hasn't tried putting ketchup on!  :)

Actually a little Marmite in a veggie bolognaise style sauce is quite tasty!

I tried it once (Marmite), and I guess what they say is true: You either love it or you hate it. I almost gagged the one time I tried it.

I've been thinking about this thread all week...

so I had veggie lasagne and home made oven chips last night.  With ketchup.

And it was lush!

 ;D

I don't at all! But some people dare to use Tesco brand or Hunts :(
OT but I wish our canteen had Heinz, they have this horrible no frills kind. It is not even the right color/thickness for ketchup, it looks practically pink  :(
