I thought that was kind of obvious all along. :)

Doesn't surprise me so much that he is gay, but more that she actually announced it as such.  Just something more to put the fanatical religious groups on edge about Harry Potter...

That's exactly what surprised me about it. The books are already done, so it was kind of odd to just announce it. I mean, I guess it did have something to do with the question that was asked, but still kind of random!

I have a feeling she enjoys winding them up.

I don't consider it an "announcement". I think she was answering a question and to do that she mentioned matter of factly a characteristic of this one character. I think it was pretty obvious to most of us anyway. I agree she probably knew there was going to be a reaction but I don't think she cares-- but my personal opinion based on the way she stated it she wasn't trying to get a reaction.

I agree.  Read the chapter(s?) in Deathly Hallows about Dumbledore and Grindelwald and you'll see it's all right there.

Duh!

Snape was having it off with Narcissa, too, whilst Lucius was in jail.   ;D

I don't know. I don't think I ever saw Dumbledore as either homosexual or heterosexual. He always struck me as sort of like a priest (not one who molests choirboys), with no concern for something as silly as sex.

It's a children's series of books. Why should there be concern for sex at all?! Whatever happened to childhood innocence?  ???  I'm around several conservative people alot, and there hasn't been much backlash yet. The reaction I've seen is "why does it even matter at this point?"
