Coach Trips
« on: April 01, 2004, 11:30:06 PM »
Are coach trips really geared toward providing service for the elders?

The reason I ask is bkz I get flyers all the time and it appears they have GREAT bargains.   My neighbours (in their 60s) take lots a great trips and highly recommend them.

Thing is ... I hear the only people who travel on the coach are seniors citizens.   My parents are coming in June and I'm thinking about booking a day trip to Cambridge (really cheap).

Well, I'm going to preface with the fact I know nothing about coach tours...never been on one.  ;D

I guess I liken them to cruises. Been on one of those.

There are themed coach tours that would bring all ranges of people. I would imagine if there's one to Glasonbury for the concert, that you might find a real interesting assortment of people.  ;)

I think years ago many more families were taking coach trips, but with more families having cars these days, I venture more pensioners are filling the seats. And...more coaches are leaning toward the pensioner in their advertising and service for that reason.

I'd say your parents would have a really good time on a coach trip.

Then it occurs to me that you might be referring to just a straight National Express ride? Or a bus? Both those are just big vehicle rides to places. I've been on those. A mixture of people, but the drivers are always very accommodating with the seniors.

I'm quite late in replying to this, Pam.  Sorry.  :-[

Frank and I took a coach trip to Brugge a few weeks ago.  I had heard this as well about it would be all older people.  While there were more senior citizens amongst the group, there were some younger folks too.  There was even one lady there with her 10 year old daughter.  I'd do a coach trip again.  It was great to get away just for the day and see someplace different.
