Ellie Krieger
« on: October 21, 2007, 06:09:23 PM »
UKTV Food (or whatever it's called these days!) has recently started showing this cooking programme with some woman called Ellie Krieger.   I really, really don't like her.  Her voice is so annoying.   Her recipes aren't doing anything for me, either.

Anyone else seen this?

Oh!  And doesn't she look just like Vicky from EastEnders?

I've seen her show a couple of times and yes, she is annoying, but her recipes are good if you're in the market for healthy versions of things.

Why is it that nearly all tv cooks/chefs are annoying to some degree?

I don't like watching her either. I agree her voice is annoying. And I agree with what Lola said..a lot of tv chefs are annoying. :P I can't stand Rachel Ray and everybody else seems to love her.

Ugh. I managed to wrest the remote out of G's hands and watched EK for a minute. Ugh. She's awful!

And, Melissa, don't get me started on the vile Rachel Ray! How do people stand her?!?

My mom sent me a Rachael Ray greeting card this week as a joke -- I'd throttle that woman if I got within 50 feet of her (RR, that is!).   ;)

I think it's nice to see a cooking show that concentrates on the more healthy aspects of cooking.  She's a little full-on for me, but I'm not watching it for her.  I'm watching it for the food.

There are a lot of TV chefs out there whom I'd rather not watch, but who have good recipes. But ... why do they all need to be on television? Can't they just write cookbooks and leave it at that?

Yep it's the bubbly that gets me too. I'm always waiting for her to break out the pom poms and start doing a bloody cheer. She's like one of those little hyper yippy dogs. :-\\\\ Sorry.

Nor me.

Is she the 'Healthy Appetite' person?

I saw that a few times, but stopped after she supposedly fried a huge amount of veg in like a teaspoon of oil.

Like I really want to scrub out the pan for an hour for doing that?

Oh, on that same episode, she said she was going to have a dinner party for 6 folks for 30 bucks.

Then they were all drinking beer and wine.

Yah, right, I'm soooo sure.

I prefer The Barefoot Contessa.
