How do you figure out your calendar year income?
« on: October 25, 2007, 08:04:49 AM »
Since income is based on tax year here?

Will I have to go through all my records at the end of this year and work out what DH earned, for filing our US return? And how do you provide proof/the equivalent of a W-2?

For US tax return, add up the payslips from 1 Jan to 31 Dec.  No need for a W2.

Ah if only it was that simple... both DH and I have had periods of self employment this year at different times, and he's had a few jobs too. It's going to be complicated! Ugh.

I just set up a simple Excel spreadsheet and record my earnings as I receive them, breaking out NI contributions, pension contributions, etc.
It's then very easy to sum up what I made from January through December.

That's a great idea, I will remember that for next year!
