That someone would put their own things in a skip that's left out doesn't really surprise me, but that someone goes into a person's back garden to do that, that's just wrong.

when we hire a skip we have them pick it up within a few hours or else someone will chuck their crap in!

Well that's exactly what I've been on about -- good tips & a word to the wise for other unsuspecting peeps! :)

I doubt that I will say anything to my neighbour -- though it could come up in passing.  Maybe I'll play dumb blonde & say 'Wow!  I had no idea that this thing happens...' ;)

He's a good neighbour usually & his mum lives on the other side.  Plus, he's one of our local butchers so I might get some good meat off him one day. :P

Still, if I see he has an open skip again out in his back garden, now that I know how things work... >:D  (But I don't know if I could be that cheeky - I'd feel too guilty!  And it's like the lady at work said -- you really should ask if it's ok first, but people don't usually.)

Doesn't it stink to have morals?  ;) I'd feel the same way!

We've had this happen too!  >:(  My DH actually saw someone throw stuff in our neighbor's dumpster once and I was really annoyed with him that he didn't say something.  I think we all need to look out for each other!

The one thing that we found helps, at least a little bit, is to cover it with a tarp overnight.  It deters people a bit as I don't think they want to spend too much time fiddling because they're worried they'll get caught.

The thing that totally p!sses me off about it, is that their trash becomes your problem.  There's generally no way to know where it came from and you can't just leave it on the street or out somewhere.  Seriously, this situation makes me SO angry!  I totally feel your pain!

All I know is that the next time I hire a skip, it's going to be delivered in the morning and picked up in the afternoon.  End of.  (This time it was part of the week-long roofing deal so I didn't have any direct control over it.)
