Smoothies...
« on: October 28, 2007, 12:16:47 AM »
Anyone have smoothie recipes to share?  I'm trying to get more fruit into my diet and thought a morning smoothie might be a good way of doing that!

I have a smoothie every morning. Frozen berries, plain low fat yogurt, orange juice and milk.  Sometimes I add a banana.

I do one that is similar to Mrs. Pink's except I use soy milk and protein powder instead of yogurt.  I also add fresh ginger.  Somedays I throw in acai too. YUM...now I'm hungry!

I use berries, greek yogurt, a banana and it it's too tart I add some honey.  I suppose mine is a thickie and not  a smoothie.  A smooth thickie!  ;D

I think people posted some smoothie recipes on this thread...

And then we got to talking about blenders. :)

I buy my (100% fruit) smoothies ready made from Lidl... 69p a bottle.
I havent done the sums, but that might be cheaper than buying all the fruit and making them yourself?

What kind of protein powder do you use?  I plan on using soy milk as well.

Unfortunately, we don't have a Lidl anywhere near us.  In the past, I've tried those Innocent Smoothies (I think that's the name!), but they are too expensive!

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I'm off to buy fruit today :)

tesco does some frozen fruit things for smoothies -- each package has a few little bags of mixed fruits that you just pop in the blender with the liquid stuff.
Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.

Especially because there's only about two sips in the bottle!

(They are good though!)

You can get the innocent smoothies on sale in the cartons.  They are not too bad.  Sainsbury also has a version that goes on sale quite often.  My kids like them but I like my own better.

I love thick ones. Just like my favourite type of milkshake is a Friendly's Fribble!

I'm in the US andI get my stuff at Whole Foods or Vitamin Shoppe...I'm always trying a new one.  Right now I have a canister of the Whole Foods Brand, Vanilla flavor.  I forget the brand that I used in the UK...he got it for me before I had arrived.  Not that this is ANY help, but I think it was in a blue container.  ???

I love the Innocent Smoothies!  VERY $$.  Good if you are on the run and need a healthy snack!
