I only get it at 7:30am when he wants his breakfast. And then it's more like this.

LOL

My mums cat sucks her tail whilst kneading and drooling.  I think she thinks if she keeps sucking on it, milk will come out one day.

My cat just digs and digs and digs incessantly whenever he even sniffs his food or water he'll do it for at least 5 mins and after he actually eats he sits there digging like he is burying it for about 10 minutes!  Sometimes if i leave my cereal bowl on the coffee table he comes over to bury that as well.  I swear its become an obsession for him.  Its not like kneading either... its all out... paw extending digging!

My thought is instinct? Maybe if he was out in the wild and he caught a bird and didnt finish eating it he would bury it to come back to it? Funny thing is... hes never been outside, because hes an indoor kitty  ???

This has nothing to do with moving. But since it involves a pet I'll put it here.

I've been thinking that maybe this board should be moved or something, because sometimes there's stuff I want to post about pets that has nothing to do with moving!

I've thought that, too.  :)

Yeah, but that stuff (instinct) is hard-wired into cats and is left over from their wild ancestors.

A slight hijack:  Once I brought home a small Raggedy Ann doll from a thrift shop and put it on the bed.  My cat immediately jumped up on the bed and straddled the doll and started licking it's face vigorously.  It was so funny!  :D

My dog used to chew on my hair.  She also once chewed my favorite winter hat.

I changed my hair gel and she stopped.  Maybe your cat likes your shampoo?  did you change it recently?

All my cats ever did was sit in a corner glaring at me. This is when I morphed into a dog person. Now I only get glares from kids!

My cat when he was younger would suckle anything he could get his mouth on. We found him outside at like 4-5 weeks old...away from his mom at such a young age. It's a comfort thing and he's since grown out of it (I believe he's 5 years old). He tries sometimes still if you pet him until he's utterly content but usually stops himself soon after.

Cats and kittens often suck blankets, hair, earlobes, etc. If they have been taken from their mothers too soon. It comforts them and is similar to a child sucking their thumb. If you don't mind her doing it then don't do anything...she should stop on her own or find something else to suckle on. If you do want her to stop I'd try making a loud noise. Try putting coins in a pill bottle and shake it when she tries to do it or have your SO sit there and when she goes for your ear spray her with a water bottle. It won't hurt her but it should let her know that you don't want her to do it.

Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine.
