Hello again Mexican food lovers!  :D

You are NOT going to believe this but it appears that the battle lines have been drawn and they are in Islington!  :o

If you remember I posted about the truly wonderful Mucho Mas opening in Islington recently. Myself and others commented on how much it was like Chipotle back in the US. We beseeched you to go and sample Mucho Mas's plethora of delights. It was the Second Coming for all us deprived burrito and taco lovers here in London.

Well, it would appear that Mucho Mas was actually the First Coming (so to speak), because the second Chipotle-alike coming to London has just opened in - wait for it... ISLINGTON!  ;D

Yes folks, Tortilla opened yesterday, just down the road from Mucho Mas!

Now, I've yet to try this new Chipotle wannabe with a silly name. Their website does look really promising however (please do something about Mucho Mas's own website Eric!!).

I hope to check out Tortilla at some point and will post my thoughts on it once I have.

I'd love some of you crazy Mexican food lovers to beat me to it though. Yes supercarrie, Aless and Olive - I'm talking to you!  ;)

It Seldom rains but pours they say and Islington it seems is a veritable flood plane when it comes to Calmex dining options in London.

Forgot to weigh in about Mucho Mas.  We went there last Friday after a rather tipsy evening at the wine show at the Business Centre on Islington High Street.  We were a semi-large group (7, I think) and when my stupid, stupid husband asked about the seating upstairs, they guy near the door gave him a rather ambiguous answer.  So we're up at the counter halfway through ordering when hubby realises that upstairs is not opened, meaning there wouldn't be enough room for us to sit inside, and goes on a little rant - half audible, half under his breath.  Well, the owner was behind the counter and heard him and COMPED us all our meals!  He asked who was with us and I pointed them out and he said free food for all of us!  I couldn't believe it!  I apologized profusely for my husband's behaviour and said that he didn't have to give us everything for free.  He said yes he did because we should have the correct information.  He said the upstairs would be opened in about 4 weeks and I told him we would be back.

I had a burrito that was as much like NYC's Uncle Mo's as I'm going to get in London and they're nice guys to boot, despite my obnoxious husband!

So go!   ;D

Now that's what I call customer service!!  :o

I'm glad you liked the food usuk2004. I hope they've sorted out the problems with the rice not being warm enough? A couple of people mentioned that on the other thread and I noticed it too on my last visit.

I love Mucho Mas so much that I actually feel bad about this new place opening in some ways.

Is it wrong that I want the food at the other place to be a bit rubbish so that I can go on loving Mucho Mas unhindered till the end of time?  ;D

Jodrell, what is it that you do for a living?

If she doesn't already, I'm thinking a job in PR for Mucho Mas is in order.
