Nintendo Wii
« on: November 07, 2007, 06:13:14 PM »
Question for any electronics buffs out there that might know about the Wii.  If we were to buy one before we move to the UK, a. could we get a different cord to plug it in there and b. are the games compatable from the UK on a US Wii??
I don't know much about this sort of stuff, but my husband is BEGGING for one, but we plan to move in March, so I don't want to waste the money!  Also, does anyone have one and was it hard to get??  Here, there isn't a whole lot of them, but we have had the opportunity to get a few and didn't because we just don't know if it's a good idea!  Any comments would be great!

Im not quite sure the US Wii's would work on PAL TV's. Paul1966 or Dennis!!! Would probably know for sure.
We got ours a few months ago no problem. By March you shouldnt have any problems at all getting one.

You can use U.S. Wii's on UK tv's, my workmate bought one online because it was cheaper and it included that adapter for the UK.

The only problem is that I am not sure about the games.

The games on a US machine are NTSC and on UK machines they are PAL. Unfortunately, getting NTSC games for your US machine will prove difficult. You're better off all around to get a machine here if you're going to be here long term. Yes you can get adaptors but they burn the power on the machine after a while. I did that with 3 of my older consoles and all went. It's a lot easier in the long term.

Sure thing :) Glad to help. Ask away if you ever have video game queries. I work and live in that industry so I am pretty "hip" to what's going on. When you're ready I'll let you know what games are good to get
