No, we're a Tiscali wholesaler so I was using our internal check. But maybe that just feeds from the same BT search...
It would have to do that to make use of BT's line tests, otherwise it would only be a guess based upon the C.O. location and house address (like my suggestion of multi-megabit speeds earlier, before Geeta's phone number appeared in the database). Which method they use, I wouldn't know.
I'd actually been with Tiscali for dialup service for about the last 3 or 4 years. I
tried to get DSL service with them, but I was told that as the cheapest package is for "up to 2Mbps" they now have a policy of not providing DSL unless they think speeds approaching that figure are attainable, even if the customer would be quite willing to settle for less at the same price. It seems a daft policy to me, as they've now lost a customer, and I'm sure this must be happening all over the country. It seems even more silly considering that we have no LLU out here, so they would be providing DSL via BT Wholesale anyway (who is providing my 576kbps service now, as I've gone over to BT as my ISP).
If you're reselling Tiscali services, I don't know if they would apply a similar restriction to you.
