I should correct myself and state that with newer homes they're no doubt standard but a lot of the council homes that I've been in they are'nt unless the occupants refit the bathroom. My oldest daughter has a council home and they just gave her a brand new kitchen, windows, doors and bath (tub, floors and ceilings included) but no shower which I thought was odd. Lots of  people (not all) that buy their homes from the council still don't install them.

I love to take baths. I have been known to take 2 a day before--that was when utilities were included with rent, but hey I took advantage, what can I say?

I get excited in the evening knowing that the bath awaits. I already have my future dream bathroom planned when I finally move into a house big enough to house it.

Bedspreads in hotel rooms? I take it off the first thing and put it on the floor. I also bring my own bedwear.

My fiance doesn't have a shower either...but I've discovered I like bathing...though it is not very economical time-wise (I don't know about the water bill?) My first trip he bought a rubber hose thingy that fit over the spouts so I could get WARM water all at once to wash my hair with while bathing...but after a few trips of putting it on and taking it off the flared spouts the rubber split. The last two visits I have washed my hair in the kitchen sink (as the tub is separate hot and cold...you know the deal) which wasn't too bad, except for the last visit was a month long...etc. I don't know why I didn't go out and buy another rubber thingy...guess because when we move for good we will buy a home with a shower???! (That's my plan! My fiance does have a big tub...didn't realize how big until we were there for a month and the morning after getting home the twins said our tub was too little! Plus my fiance is 6'3" and he fits in his tub quite nicely!)

I must admit to some puzzlement here, Celtic.  For myself I cannot remember being in a British home that didn't have one, at least not in the last three decades.

My house was built in 1990, and does not have a shower.

My future InLaws have a sticker (well remnants) of a sticker on their glass partition i was speaking of earlier that says 'showers use less water than baths'.

Interesting, but i didn't look into it further.

I am almost positive that showers use less water than baths--just for the simple fact that I can take a shower wayyyy longer before the hot water runs out.

My inlaws have this electric shower box thing in their bath that saves loads of water--it pretty much just spits on you--that saves water for sure.

I also like a bubble bath now and then for a relaxing soak, with a glass of wine and some mellow music. Yeah!  But for cleanliness, I shower. Thing is, my hair is long, thick, and curly and there is NO WAY I would be able to get it clean in a bath. I have enough problem rinsing out the shampoo and conditioner with our shower. I do have to say that having an electric shower is handy because you don't have to worry about heating up the water, but the water pressure is just a step above a drizzle. *sigh* I remember having a WaterPic Water Massage shower head...

My hair is like that too... i keep a plastic 2-pint measuring jug in the bathroom cupboard and fill it with fresh water (several times) to rinse my hair.  A shower with low water pressure is worse than useless, i think.

i gotta say, in regards to the showers.....the half glass partition instead of a shower curtain that i have seen at a lot of places confuses me.

Df's parents have this, leaving me to stand up in the tub with open air to my right while the glass partition only makes sure the water doesn't splash when coming out of the nozzle.  V. strange.  I'm always worried that when i'm washing my hair water is going everywhere.   :P

We've just had our bathroom completely redone (hadn't been retiled since it was built in 1950 so we felt we'd earned it!) and have got a bath and shower unit called Showerplus. The bath has a really wide, flat end for showering, and there are folding glass doors which go halfway along the bath and across to make a cubicle. If anyone's interested see:  http://www.royalflushbathrooms.freeserve.co.uk/.

if i had my preference, which i do not at the moment...I like a nice luke cool shower in the morning...every morning!...and I love a bath at night at least every other day...  but with a bath, it must be dark out so that I can fill the room with candles and incense...LOL! I also like my bath with essential oils and I make it a special treat each time...

I do not have a shower here...so it is a bath for me...and I still require it to be at night with my candles and incense...a way to let go of all the days pressures right before bedtime...
