Debit card transactions.
« on: November 25, 2007, 11:09:02 PM »
I paid my vodafone bill with a debit card on the 12th of this month...The other day I go to my bank and noticed the balance isn't right. I got a mini-reciept and discovered over £100 was used by a debit card the day before. I immediatly thought this was fraudlent because we havent used the debit card to make purchases in over a week. So hubby calls the bank and it was discovered it was vodafone.... I paid on the 12th...they (vodafone) finally put it through on the 21st ????  Thats 9 days later!!
Isn't there some type of rule for how much time they put it through? It doesnt seem right that they can take as long as they want to take out the money after you pay with your card

That is bad! I know sometimes it can take a day or two to show up on your statement but I've never had it take that long! But are you sure Vodafone put it through late? Sometimes the banks take their time to process a transaction and they've been in trouble for that in the past.

never had a problem with the bank getting rid of my money before lol.

I believe its vodafones fault because usually when they process it, correctly. The payment shows its been taken under my available balance ..but it still shows its still in the account under the current balance.
But with this , its like they just decided to take it 9 days later.

I would definitely complain to Vodaphone about it then.  Lucky you still had the funds in your account to cover it.

Ouch! It might be worth asking the bank if they'd be willing to refund that, might be easier than chasing Vodafone.
