I saw this author on Richard and Judy (gad, did I really watch that?!). Sounds really interesting!

TRUE BRITS
When J.R Daeschner first heard about “shin kicking” he was intrigued. As an American who had lived in Britain for some time he thought he knew a thing or two about the country. But he’d never come across this centuries-old ‘sport’, which had to be one of the most painful and infuriating ever invented. J.R Daeschner joins us to tell us about his new Book, "True Brits"
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I've read it and it's okay. I found it a laboured attempt at a Bill Bryson style. I think Mr. Bryson has cornered the market on wry commentary from an American point of view.
