I know you can get tickets to see the Senate in action (ohhh feel the excitement) and tours of the Capitol building. I know they suspended tours of the dome about 7 years ago due to damage by grubby hands, but I am not sure if they ever resumed.
According to my old boss's website white house tours requests must be submitted 5-6 months in advance and capitol tours 3 months in advance. Yikes! We used to have those tickets just lying around the office.
