Yep, Suicide is Painless - we used to have the sheet music for it!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

OFF TOPIC: Carl and everyone else, what's the name of the M*A*S*H song (and NO looking on Google to find out--you either know it or you're a cheater).

who would need to Google this?
Manic Street Preachers covered it, and that's all you need to know!  ;)

I've known it since I was an early teen (and I'm 42 now). So what is it, Q-G (who seems particularly combative tonight)?

I remember my brother used to play it on the piano. I called it the MASH song but the title on the sheet music was "Suicide is Painless". It was the first time I ever saw/heard the word suicide. This had to be around 1977.

I have just returned from 3 days away ... this was probably my first post, apart from posting what i had for my dinner, and what was the last thing i bought, so i'm not sure where i'm being 'combative'.

All i'm saying is that the name of the song is pretty much common knowledge, so it's unlikely anyone would have to google it.   And giving a plug for one of my favourite bands, the Manics.  :)

I won a round of drinks for a table of 20 when I was 18 for knowing the title to that song. :O

If I recall correctly, it's pretty simple to play.  Maybe they just didn't feel like a challenge! ;D

I think it was pretty simple, but it just seems so inappropriate for kids!! It wasn't a very happy song at all.  :P

When you were a kid, though, you had no idea what the real title was. You just thought it was the M*A*S*H song...

I knew the name, and I thought it was freaky.  You had to know it if you were playing it from sheet music - the title and lyrics were right there in front of you all the time.  I hated M*A*S*H as well.  :P

Ah, I get your point now (bit slow tonight, sorry).  Yeah, not exactly the perfect choice for kids.  Or anyone, for that matter.

He does, however, have a mild case of wonk-eye, which is completely unacceptable.
I WAS GONNA SAY THE EXACT SAME THING! HAHAHA

It was totally quiet in my house and I laughed so hard...parents looked up kinda worried lol

That commercial might scare little, say two- to three-year-old kids, but beyond that, you should have your child checked for maturity. Oops, let me apologize about my true opinion, lest someone report me to a moderator...

don't think they were referring to the commercial here. read the last few posts in this thread.
