Class Action Settlement re fees on overseas purchases
« on: December 13, 2007, 10:55:44 AM »
My mother wrote this to me in an e-mail this week:
Quote
...there is a class action  Settlement against Visa, MasterCard and Diners Club for charging fees on purchases made overseas involving exchange rate.  There is a form for you to fill out in the box I sent today.  You can just apply for the flat $25 refund or submit paperwork for more.  Under separate cover, I mailed you an article from today's paper regarding this settlement and assuring everyone that it is not a scam and very legal.  I had already started getting my paperwork together for purchases I made for your ... on my Visa Card.   I probably will settle for the $25 flat refund but you might be eligible for more.

I haven't received the box & letter from her, but I'm getting my bank statements together in anticipation... ;D

I got that letter! I was wondering if it was real. I suppose I'll take my $25.

I'm getting copies of my statements, I'm already up to $85 with much more to come.

In our first few months here EVERYTHING went on US credit cards so I'm due a lot!

rock on! i'm so filing this :) i'm sure i can dig up some. I have a wachovia visa debit card and a bank of america mastercard. Too bad amex isn't included. We go abroad every year so if I can find all the statements I bet I can rack up a good bit. Too bad this year isn't included.

I have a wachovia visa debit card and a bank of america mastercard.

Do visa debit cards count? Credit card wise, I've only ever used my Amex over here, but I definitely used my Wachovia Visa debit card when I lived here back in 2001-2003. If so, I'm excited for my $25 (at the very least).

My dad just forwarded the letter he received in the mail.  Two years of dating my husband put an awful lot of cost on the credit cards.  I just wonder if I can find all the transactions.

Is anyone else having problems filling out the electronic form? No matter what I do, I can't get it to accept my UK postcode (even though it's fine with having my country as UK), and I can't just leave it blank. I used the contact form on the claims site (which also requires a valid postcode, hahahah!) but no one's gotten back to me. I'd really rather not have to post it in just because they can't code their site properly... :(

it specifically mentioned visa or mastercard debit or credit cards. So, should count.
