I think I remember a thread about this from a while ago since it convinced me to ask for one for Christmas! (We always had horrible meals out of them when we were younger, it made me think that some good things could come out of it.)

Here it is... http://talk.uk-yankee.com/index.php?topic=30712.0

I use recipezaar a lot and here are cookbooks full of recipes... http://www.recipezaar.com/cookbooks/tags/slowcooker

I love my slow cooker -- wouldn't be without it!

I'm making minestrone soup in my crockpot right now and it smells so good!

I bought my first slow cooker in the UK and loved it.  The one I have here was one of the first things we bought for the kitchen when we moved on our own.  I just love it.

I have one and I love it. I am dying for it to break so I can get a fancier one!
I make a lot of pot roasts in it, also split pea soup (a big favorite here) and some other yummy stuff. I love them, they are so cheap and cheerful!

I'm thinking about getting a slow cooker. What size should I get? I'm just making things for me and my housemate, so not huge family dinners. Is the 1.5 L one too small or should I get a 3.5 L one? I don't want a fancy one as I'll probably leave it here with my housemate when I move. Any suggestions?

I would get the larger one, because I tend to make large batches of things in the crock pot so that I can freeze them, and have easy meals on hand.

I've always found that I used my bigger one more than my smaller ones, even when it was just two people. It's easier to have the big one and not fill it up all the way than to have a little one that's overflowing.
Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.

And, unless you're a vegetarian, you'll want one that you know is big enough to fit a whole chicken.

We use ours at least twice a week if not more.

Just did a soup in it today and will be doing sloppy joes in it tomorrow.

I spent a full half hour trying to explain sloppy joes to a coworker on Friday and found myself at a total loss.  :-[
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.
