Ok, I need to just tell someone who will really understand how much this sucks. First off let me give you some background. I do political work, specifically creating coalitions (bringing the community together) around health care policy changes. I lobby when state governments are in session, I do electoral work when it is election season (so this fall I will be working non-stop) and in between I organize any and all community, senior, disability, health care groups, as well as the faith community to stand together for health care policy changes. So with that said, on Monday (my birthday) a number of groups (very important groups) decided to blindside me and threaten to come out against what I am working on. What this means is that I have to restructure my time line for our political work and instead of getting to take the holidays off and spend it in Scotland, I have to cancel my trip and work straight through the holidays. This also means I will most likely not get any time off till June. (let me also note that restructuring our time line means we will be paying about half a million to a million dollars more to get things done by election day)
Now the most annoying part of all of this, the issue that made these important groups blindside me, is something I wanted to discuss and take care of 2 months ago but the silly people wouldn't meet with me. So now, just before the holidays they threaten to destroy everything my team is creating, so we have to cancel our vacations. None of us are going home for Christmas (let alone to another country to spend the holidays with our significant others). I am so upset with these people!
