My fiance and I are getting legally married in March (for visa purposes) but will be having our meaningful wedding on August 9 in San Diego.

The March "ceremony" is actually going to consist of our officiant signing the marriage license and filing it with the county - luckily there are no actual words required to be said! I have a sense of sadness over having to do it this way, but I couldn't face being unemployed for 6 months on a fiance visa, and all of our guests wanted a summer wedding.  (British people wanting to enjoy the San Diego summer!)

I am so looking forward to our August wedding though - we are sending out save the dates this week! To make it the truly meaningful ceremony, we are putting a lot of thought into the order of service, and of course, writing our own vows and giving them in front of our friends and family. And having a fabulous party!

I just got done speaking with rev. who is going to marry me and my fiance. It's finally all official! August 2nd 2008 in Fairlight, England.

The Church of England wedding service he just emailed me seems so long and involved compared to the weddings ive been to in the US  :o So many prayers/hymns to choose. Very overwhelming! I need to start looking for a dress too. :P

I am! Ummm...unless something goes horribly wrong. We were planning it for April, but we've shifted it to September.

I'm trying to sell a house in the States, you see   ::)

I feel ya there! I was supposed to be married in 2007, had the church booked and everything and had to keep pushing it back. Finally, we'll get married, but a year and 2 months after we originally had it booked! It's so annoying when it gets pushed off again and again

Sept 7th for me in NJ.  ;D

It's all very strange at the moment, as I'm getting emails about the wedding details from DF in NJ whilst also sorting out dad's funeral and affairs.
I love the bits about the wedding cropping up though, it doesn't seem inappropriate (apart from when she called me on the evening that dad had died and then later in conversation was discussing wedding details and I just couldn't think at all!)

Without the other knowing, we both thought September would be the perfect month for us to marry.
I'm heading back over there the first week of March for the engagement. We will feel more comfortable setting a date and moving forward with everything once he "officially" proposes. I heart him.

I thought I'd be a June bride, but I guess it wasn't meant to be. Glad I didn't book a hall or send out invitations....We'll probably wed about the same time...end of August. If you've ever seen Muriel's Wedding, I visited David's Bridal a couple of months ago and felt like I "did a Muriel"....tried on a couple of dresses and enjoyed being fussed over, like a real bride to be. But the questions really got me depressed...what's your wedding date? Don't know. How many bridesmaids? None. Where is the reception? No clue. I left feeling like a pathetic loser,  and to make it worse, I got bombarded for weeks with emails and phone calls about everything from Tux rentals to honeymoon packages. Had to go through the same questions all over again. Apparently, David's Bridal gives your phone number and email address out to dozens of wedding related businesses. The latest one was a call about how I've won a bride pampering package from Mary Kay. This was the morning after I'd been up until 3am, doing the final sorting through all my docs. Let's just say it's highly unlikely that Miss Mary Kay will be getting back to me.

Just returned from my honeymoon.  The wedding was perfect in every way.  We're still unpacking from being away and shuffling around gifts from everywhere.  Good luck to all the future brides!  Get organized and enjoy the day.  It goes fast!
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

 :D  Congratulations Kristi & spouse!!!

I feel a bit like joysoula.  My wonderful fiance and I had hoped to be married on 4th of July but things didn't come together as easily as we hoped they would.  Now we're aiming for a November 5th wedding, Bonfire Night.  The waiting is seriously depressing.   :(
